Refugee Family Reunification Bill debate 15 December 2017
I very much hope that you will be able to attend this debate and support Baroness Sally Hamwee’s important bill, which aims to reunite families torn apart by war and persecution.
It is often suggested that liberal legislation acts as a pull factor for refugees, but there is no evidence to support this claim. Meanwhile, many refugees—including children and young people— are surviving in terrible conditions, unable to join family members already here. This bill could help some of them rebuild their lives.
Most British Jews are only two or three generations away from being refugees themselves, which is why I believe our community is uniquely placed to provide a powerful voice in this debate—one that will undoubtedly be heard.
If you have any specific questions about the bill, Baroness Hamwee has stated she will be more than happy to hear from you.
We hope to have your support on this crucial bill.
