Karim came to the UK on his own from Afghanistan when he was 16. He was put straight into Foster Care, but then had to leave as the Home Office did not think he was a child. Karim did not know what to do, whether to study, or how to seek work. Karim was on his alone and did not have anyone to support him.
We need to start treating refugees fairly inside and outside of the UK. Indefinite detention must be outlawed, and children should be protected instead of being treated as criminals. We need a fairer and more humane asylum system.
This refugee week join JCORE's No Way to Live campaign to help us realise a fairer asylum system.
