Refugee Week 2022
The theme for Refugee Week 2022, which runs from June 20th-26th, is 'Healing'.
After a bruising few months which have seen the appalling Nationality and Borders Bill passed into law, and the first Rwanda deportation flight stopped only by an 11th-hour ECHR intervention, this theme feels particularly poignant.
But what are the alternatives to such cruel, dangerous and immoral policies?
For World Refugee Day, we have six suggestions for how the government could help heal the UK's asylum system, to ensure those seeking sanctuary are protected, not punished:
1. Step up and take responsibility
2. Treat people fleeing persecution and conflict equally
3. Introduce, broaden and expedite safe and legal routes for all
4. Treat refugees as refugees
5. Address the real problems
6. Treat asylum seekers and refugees, and those who advocate for their rights, with dignity and respect

While we were relieved that the first Rwanda flight was cancelled, it is critical that we keep up the pressure against this callous policy.
Use our template letter to lobby your MP, and urge them to speak up against these cruel plans.
