“I always think that the real offenders at the half-way mark of the last century were the bystanders –
all those people who let things happen because it didn’t affect them directly.” Rabbi Hugo Gryn
SAVE THE DROP IN
The New North London Synagogue Drop-in Centre for Destitute
Asylum Seekers that JCORE supports has been held at the
Old Barn Community Centre in Finchley ever since its
launch in March 2006. It is a good, affordable local space
which is accessible to both asylum seekers and volunteers.
Unfortunately, the Old
Barn is now facing a financial crisis and its future is in
jeopardy. Barnet councillors will decide whether or not to
continue funding it at an important council meeting next
Tuesday, February 23rd.
The organisers have started a petition to present
to Barnet councillors urging them to continue supporting
the centre, so that the drop-in and the many other
community organisations that use it can continue to do so.
They need to collect at least 2,000 signatures before
February 23rd.
Sign the
petition - it only takes a few seconds. If you have
any friends, family or colleagues who would be interested
in adding their names please forward the link to them.
